Free Scituate Shred Day

The FREE Scituate Shred Day is here! Have you been holding on to unwanted or unnecessary old financial documents, bank statements, tax returns, bills and invoices and even your old college papers for years, then here’s your chance to clean out that desk, file cabinet and closet you’ve been wanting to shred. Come to the Scituate Town Hall on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, to safely and securely dispose of all your confidential documents in the on-site Iron Mountain government compliant mobile shredding truck.

Free Scituate Shred DayThe Free Scituate Shred day event is for Scituate MA homeowners and residents is being hosted by Realtor Alli Trowbridge and George Jamieson of the Jamieson Trowbridge Real Estate Group. There is no minimum or maximum amount of shredding material you can bring to the event and you don’t have to worry about removing small or large paper clips and binder clips as the industrial size shredder and magnet will remove them for you. Bound material is generally allowed in the large industrial shredder, but we ask that you remove material from large 3-ring binders so the machine doesn’t get jammed up. Also, if you bring your material in cardboard boxes, please be aware that those will be returned to you as the machine won’t generally shred that.

As part of this Free Scituate Shred day event, we are collecting cash donations for the Scituate food pantry. We are suggesting a donation in the amount of $10-$20 or any amount you can afford, in the form of cash, check or grocery store gift card. This is a voluntary donation, and any amount will be greatly appreciated. All visitors to the event will receive a very friendly smile and a thank you for attending along with a small American flag in recognition of Flag Day 2025 as well as a Hilliard’s chocolate bar, flavor of your choice, for donating to the Scituate food pantry

Business shredding is not free. The cost for businesses is $50 <5 bags/Boxes, $100 6-10 bags/boxes, $200 for 11-20 bags/boxes, $300 for 21-30 bags/boxes (max disposal) -all monies collected from businesses will be donated to the Scituate food pantry. Keep in mind that shredding at office store retailers runs about .99 cents per pound so this is a big savings.

We do ask that you be respectful of others in the vehicle line and suggest making a 2nd or 3rd trip if you have an excessively full car of materials to be shredded.
